Adding Control Hub Endpoints to WXP Collaboration

Prev Next

Introduction

The Endpoint Monitoring service of HP WXP Collaboration application is used to monitor Webex Control Hub cloud-registered endpoints, including Webex Boards.

When an endpoint is registered with Control Hub, direct configuration through the endpoint’s local web portal using the default Admin user is disabled. Because of this limitation, a local administrator account must be created and enabled through Control Hub. This local account is required for the Endpoint Monitor service to monitor the endpoint through WXP Collaboration.

Prerequisites

  • Access to Cisco Control Hub

  • Access to the Admin Portal in WXP Collaboration

  • Network connectivity to the endpoint (you must be on the same network)

  • Endpoint registered with Control Hub

Step 1: Enabling a Local Administrator Account on the Endpoint

  1. Log in to Cisco Control Hub.

  2. From the left navigation menu, select Devices.

  3. Select the endpoint that you want to monitor.

  4. Click Web Portal to launch the endpoint’s local web portal.

  5. Review the confirmation message indicating that you must be on the same network as the endpoint.  At this point, you should be seeing the local portal for the endpoint (in this case of the screenshot below, this is a DX80).

Note: After the local web portal opens, the default Admin user is disabled.

  6. From the left menu, select Users.

  7. Review the existing users. Typically, only the admin user appears with a status of Inactive.

  8. Click Create User to add a new local administrator account.

  9. Enter a unique username, select all available role entries

  10. Ensure the checkbox Require passphrase change on next user sign in is not selected.

  11. Close the codec web page.

  12. Verify access by logging in to the endpoint’s local web UI using the local IP address and new admin credentials.

Step 2: Adding the Endpoint in the Admin Portal of WXP Collaboration

  1. Log in to the Admin Portal of WXP Collaboration.

  2. Manually add the endpoint.

  3. Enter the endpoint name, IP address, and local administrator credentials.

  4. Optionally add the endpoint cloud URI in the SIP field. It may be required when pulling CDR from codec to Tech Insights Analytics. Example - dev_spark_room_kit@vyopta.room.ciscospark.com

  5. Add the endpoint to an Endpoint Monitor access group.

  6. Save the endpoint configuration.

  7. Confirm that the endpoint status displays OK in the Admin Portal.
