Cisco Control Hub for Devices Integration

Introduction

HP WXP Collaboration application connects to Cisco Webex through a cloud-to-cloud integration to retrieve the list of endpoints in Workspaces.

This connector lets WXP Collaboration application monitor devices in remote locations where a WXP Collaboration Data Collector cannot reach, and enables remote xAPI monitoring. Because of API rate limits on the Webex side, use this connector for a small number of devices, such as C-level and VP endpoints.

This article explains how to set up the Cisco Control Hub device integration.

Prerequisite

  • Full admin access in Cisco Control Hub. The authorizing user must be a Full Admin so WXP Collaboration integration app can collect data on your behalf.

  • Depending on your organization’s Control Hub settings, you may need to temporarily enable Global access so the OAuth integration works. If this setting is not enabled, the OAuth request may fail with “access denied.”

To enable Global access temporarily:

  1. Sign in to Cisco Control Hub.

  2. Go to Apps > General.

  3. In the Embedded apps section, enable Global access (see screenshot) using the toggle option.

  4. After completing OAuth authorization, you may disable the Global access.

Integrating Cisco Control Hub

  1. Sign in to your WXP Collaboration account using your Admin privileges.

  2. Open the Admin Portal from the product selection menu.

  3. In the Admin Portal, click Infrastructure > New infrastructure.

  4. From the list of infrastructure types, select Cisco Control Hub Device.

  5. Enter the Name and Description.

  6. Click Save. The Cisco Webex Authorization section appears.

  7. Expand the Cisco Webex Authorization section and select Click to Authorize.

  8. Sign in to your Cisco Webex account when prompted.

  9. Review the required permissions and click Accept. You will be redirected back to the Admin Portal of WXP Collaboration application.

  10. Select Validate to test the connection between WXP Collaboration and Webex. A popup is displayed with the success or failure message.

Once the connection is setup and validated, it will take 24 hours for devices to start showing up in WXP Collaboration.
