Device Utilization Report
The Device Utilization report provides insights into CPU and memory usage across all enrolled devices in your organization. It helps IT teams to monitor resource consumption trends, detect performance bottlenecks, and identify systems that are underutilized or overutilized. These insights support informed decisions on workload distribution, hardware upgrades, and software optimization.
The data is displayed across multiple tabs: Summary, By Manufacture Year, Windows Software Performance, Mac OS Software Performance, and Details.
Summary
This tab includes two area charts that show overall trends in CPU and memory usage over time. These charts are useful to track performance fluctuations over time and identify long-term patterns in device resource usage.
- CPU Utilization Summary: Displays daily CPU usage distribution across devices, categorized into:
- Unknown (dark gray): Devices for which utilization data is not available.
- Underutilized (light gray): Devices with consistently low CPU usage.
- Normal (green): Devices with average, acceptable CPU usage.
- Overutilized (red): Devices with consistently high CPU usage.
- Memory Utilization Summary: Shows daily memory usage trends across devices using the same categories as CPU utilization.
Hovering over a data point in the CPU Utilization Summary or Memory Utilization Summary charts shows a breakdown of the utilization for that specific date.
By Manufacture Year
This tab shows two stacked bar charts:
- CPU Utilization by Device Manufacture Year: This chart groups devices by their manufacture year and displays the number of devices where CPU utilization is categorized as Unknown, Underutilized, Normal, or Overutilized.
- Memory Utilization by Device Manufacture Year: This chart groups devices by their manufacture year and displays the number of devices where memory utilization is categorized as Unknown, Underutilized, Normal, or Overutilized.
IT teams can use this information for capacity planning and lifecycle management.
Windows Software Performance
This tab shows the applications that contribute most to CPU and memory overutilization on Windows devices:
- Applications Causing CPU Overutilization: A horizontal bar chart showing the share of Windows devices experiencing high CPU usage due to specific applications, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Office Click-to-Run.
- Applications Causing Memory Overutilization: A horizontal bar chart showing the sharing of Windows devices experiencing high memory overutilization due ot specific appplications.
Each bar in these charts represents an application and shows the percentage of devices where that application is contributing to high CPU or memory utilization.
These insights help IT teams identify high-impact applications and prioritize optimization or upgrades.
Mac OS Software Performance
This tab shows the applications that contribute most to CPU and memory overutilization on Mac OS devices:
- Applications Causing CPU Overutilization: A horizontal bar chart showing the share of Mac devices experiencing high CPU usage due to specific applications, such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Office Click-to-Run.
- Applications Causing Memory Overutilization: A horizontal bar chart showing the sharing of Mac devices experiencing high memory overutilization due ot specific appplications.
Each bar in these charts represents an application and shows the percentage of devices where that application is contributing to high CPU or memory utilization.
These insights help IT teams identify high-impact applications and prioritize optimization or upgrades.
Details
This tab provides a device-level table with system and utilization metadata. The default columns include:
- Last Signed-In User: The name of the user who last signed in to the device.
- Device Name: The assigned name of the device.
- Serial Number: A unique identifier for the device.
- Device Model: The model of the device, such as HP EliteBook or Virtual Machine.
- Operating System: The OS installed on the device, such as Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Manufacture Year: The year the device was manufactured.
These insights help IT teams identify high-impact applications and prioritize optimization or upgrades.
