Introduction

The Device details page provides comprehensive information about an individual device, divided into multiple tabs, such as Overview, Timeline, Health and Protection, Hardware, Network, BIOS and Drivers, Software, Location, and Sustainability.

Viewing Device Listing

  1. From the left menu of the platform, click Devices > PCs. A paginated list of devices is displayed in a tabular view. In the default view, the following details are displayed:

Field

Description

Serial Number

A unique identifier of the device.

Model

The specific model of the device, such as "HP EliteBook 840 G8.”

PC Type

The type of the device, such as laptop, desktop, workstation, thin client, or virtual machine.

Location

The physical or assigned location of the device, such as an office, branch, region, or country. This is used for geographic tracking and support planning.

Product

The commercial name or series of the device. For example, "ProBook," or "EliteDesk."

Active Warranty

The current warranty status of the device.

HP Wolf and Protect Trace

Indicates whether the device is protected by HP Wolf Security features or monitored through Protect and Trace services.

Deployment Ring:

The rollout group assigned to the device for staged software updates, typically labeled as Pilot or Targeted.

Lease Schedule

Information related to the device’s leasing agreement, including lease start and end dates. This is used for financial and asset lifecycle planning.

Department

The organizational unit, such as Finance, HR, or Engineering, to which the device is assigned. This is used for department-level asset management.

Employee ID

A unique identifier of the employee to whom the device is assigned. This is used to track ownership and streamline support processes.

  1. Use the search box to find devices based on the above-mentioned fields.

Viewing Device Details Page - Overview Tab

The Overview tab of the Device details page offers a quick summary of the device's health, security, and overall experience. This helps IT Administrators to identify the device's current status and prioritize devices requiring immediate attention. 

The Overview tab displays the following information: 

  • Overall experience: A qualitative score, which is categorized as Great, Fair or Poor, based on the following metrics:

    • System Health: Displays the device's overall health. For example, a score of 80 is rated as Fair.

    • Security: Displays the device's security configuration. For example, a score of 100 is rated as Great.

    • OS Performance: Displays the efficiency score of the operating system. For example, a score of 87 is rated as Great.

    • Applications: Displays the health of installed applications. For example, a score of 100 is rated as Great.

  • Recommended Actions: Highlights actionable insights to improve device performance and security. For example, "Address GPU health issues" and "Resolve OS Crash."

    • Each action is assigned a priority level, such as High, Low, or Medium. 

  • Profile Information: Displays crucial information of the device, such as serial number, assigned users, and enrollment status. It helps track ownership, usage, and lifecycle for efficient asset management.

  • Custom Fields: Allows you to customize and track additional datapoints relevant to your operational needs. This feature enhances flexibility by accommodating unique organizational requirements related to device management.

  • System: Provides detailed information about the device's hardware, operating system, and enrolled applications. This is useful in understanding the device's technical specifications and installed software for compatibility and troubleshooting.

  • Workforce Experience Enrolled Applications: Provides the name of the installed application for workforce experience, along with the version and enrolled time.

    • Click View history for additional information. 

  • Warranty: Displays the details of active warranty log with its status, start date, and end date. In addition, you can access details of expired warranties. 

Viewing Device Details Page - Timeline Tab

The Timeline tab shows an Error and Events Timeline graph, a scatterplot, to help visualize the frequency and time of events and errors over time. This is useful for historical analysis of device performance and diagnosing recurring issues. The x-axis represents time in chronological order, broken down by days and times. For example, 11/12 12:00 PM to 11/18 12:00 PM. The data points (black dots for events and red triangles for errors) are plotted along the X-axis. Each point on the graph is a specific occurrence of an event or error at a given time. Click Learn More to access a list of tracked issues, categorized as Events, Errors, and Anamalies

Note: Multiple points stacked vertically indicates overlapping occurrences of events or errors at the same time. 

Viewing Device Details Page - Health and Protection Tab

The Health and Protection tab helps IT Administrators monitor key indicators that decrease the system health, OS Performance, or security scores. The "New" tag indicates new issues that are less than seven days old.

Monitor key indicators, such as: 

  • App Crashes: Number of application crashes in the last seven days.

  • Firewall Status: Shows whether the firewall is enabled or disabled.

  • Missing Security Updates: Highlights outstanding Windows OS updates.

In addition, view the following details:

  • Resolved Issues: Displays the resolved issues from the past week.

  • Application Crashes and Freezes: Displays a log of recent application failures, including:

    • Date of error: Use the calendar icon to select the start and end date, in mm/dd/yyyy format, to find errors in the given date range.

    • Application Name: The name of the app. This field supports keyword search.

    • Application Version: The version of the app. This field supports keyword search.

    • Error Type: The type of the error. Filter the results based on Crash, Freeze, and All

    • Binary File Name: This field supports keyword search.

  • BSOD Crashes (Last 90 days): Shows the occurrences of Blue Screen of Death issues in the last 90 days. 

  • Security: Shows the details of the device's security, such as:

    • Default Antivirus Engine: Indicates the default antivirus of the device. For example, HP Wolf Pro.

    • Antivirus and Threat Protection: Indicates whether protection is active or not.

    • Firewall and Network Protection: Indicates whether protection is active or not.

    • BitLocker Drive Encryption: Displays encryption status.

  • Logs: Displays recorded data entries for all changes. This is useful for IT administrators to troubleshoot devices. Click Collect new logs and select one of the options - All Logs, Logs for a specific data range, and custom days

Viewing Device Details Page - Hardware Tab

The Hardware tab of the Device details page lists specifications for graphics, memory, storage, and other hardware components. This is helpful in resource planning and determining hardware limitations or upgrade needs. Depending on the type of device, the details shown in the Hardware tab may vary. For a PC, the following details are displayed:

  • Battery: Shows the serial number and battery or disk replacement status. For example, a green "OK" indicates battery is in good condition. 

  • Graphics: Lists the processor type. For example, AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics.

  • Memory: Displays available memory. For example, 28 GB.

  • Storage: Shows disk capacity and available space, For example, 359.8 GB free of 512 GB.

  • Processor: The name of the processor, including the Number of cores, Number of enabled cores, and the Number of logical processors

Device Details Page - Network Tab

The Network tab in the Device details page provides insights into the network configuration and performance of a specific device. This is useful for IT administrators to monitor and troubleshoot network-related issues.

  • Network Interface: Displays detailed information about the device's network interface configuration. This is useful to identify the device on the network and troubleshoot connectivity issues. 

    • Last updated: The last updated date.

    • NDIS Medium: The network type. For example, 802.3 for Ethernet.

    • MAC Address: Displays the unique hardware identifier for the network interface.

    • IPv4 Address: Shows the device's IPv4 address.

    • IPv6 Address: Displays the IPv6 address for the device.

    • BSSID: Displays the Basic Service Set Identifier (for Wi-Fi networks)

  • Network Health: Provides a summary of the device’s network performance over the past seven days. The following details are displayed to review the stability and performance of the network.

    • Date: The specific day for which data is available.

    • Network ID: The identifier for the connected network.

    • VPN Connected: Indicates whether a VPN is active.

    • Network Speed (Mbps): Shows the real-time network speed.

    • 24-Hour Average Speed: Displays the average speed recorded over the past 24 hours.

    • 24-Hour High Speed: Shows the maximum speed recorded in the last 24 hours.

    • 24-Hour Low Speed: Displays the lowest speed recorded in the last 24 hours.

    • Authentication Type: Identifies the method used to authenticate the network connection.

  • Network Disconnections: Logs disconnection events for the device over the past three months. Tracks disconnection patterns to identify recurring issues and diagnose whether disconnections are due to network or device. The following details are displayed: 

    • Disconnected At: Indicates the date and time the disconnection occurred. 

    • Network ID: The identifier for the disconnected network.

    • Network Type: Specifies the type of network. For example, Wi-Fi, Ethernet.

Viewing Device Details Page - Software Tab

The Software tab is used to track usage of application resources based on memory and CPU utilization over time. This helps to identify resource-hungry applications and optimize system performance.

  • Software Utilization: Displays metrics on the impact of software on the device's memory and CPU usage over time. The following details are displayed:

    • Memory Utilization: Provides a visual representation using a Line graph for the memory utilization of a device over a period of time. This helps IT administrators monitor memory consumption and identify patterns and anomalies. The x-axis represents dates, and the y-axis shows the memory range (in percentage).

      • Each data point corresponds to the memory usage at a specific date. 

      • The line connecting the data points shows the trend in memory usage over time.

      • A higher percentage indicates more consumption. 

    • CPU Utilization: Provides a visual representation using a Line graph for the CPU utilization of a device over a period of time. This helps IT administrators monitor CPU consumption and identify patterns. The x-axis represents dates, and the y-axis shows the CPU range (in percentage).

      • Each data point corresponds to the CPU usage at a specific date. 

      • The line connecting the data points shows the trend in CPU usage over time.

      • A higher percentage indicates more consumption. 

  • Top 5 Applications: Lists the top five applications contributing to resource consumption based on the following metrics:

    • Contributing to Memory: A bar graph to provide a visual representation of the applications that are consuming the most memory.

    • Contributing to CPU: A bar graph to provide a visual representation of the applications using the highest percentage of CPU.

    • Note:

      • Applications are color-coded for easy identification.

      • Bar charts for memory and CPU usage are displayed for multiple dates to enable you to track trends.

  • Missing Windows Updates: Provides a list of critical updates that are pending for the Windows operating system on the device. This is helpful to ensure the device is running the latest updates to maintain security and performance. The following details are displayed:

    • Classification: Categorizes the updates, such as Security Updates, and Update Rollups.

    • MSRC Severity: Indicates the importance of the update. For example, Important or Urgent

    • Update Name: The name of the update.

  • Application Inventory: Provides a comprehensive list of applications installed on the device. Helps IT teams maintain a record of installed software for compliance and troubleshooting purposes. The following details are displayed:

    • Application Name: Name of the installed software.

    • Version: The version of the software.

    • Publisher Name: Displays the software publisher.

    • Installed On: Shows the installation date and time.

Viewing Device Details Page - Location Tab

The Location tab in the Device details page provides geolocation information of the device using map visuals and metadata, such as accuracy and last updated time. This is useful to track lost or stolen devices and ensures adherence to compliance requirements. The following details are displayed:

  • Geolocation: Displays the last known geographical address or area where the device was located.

  • Location Last Reported: Indicates the time elapsed since the device's last reported location. For example, 8 days.  

  • Accuracy: Specifies the radius (in meters) within which the device's actual location is expected to fall to indicate the accuracy of the geolocation data. For example, 500 meters.

  • Source: Displays the system or application that provided the geolocation data. For example, Windows location.

  • Asset Location: A customizable field that allows IT admins to tag a specific asset's physical location manually.

Note: For Windows 10 and 11, when the Fast Restart feature is enabled, shutting down the device does not fully power it off; instead, the device enters hibernation. As a result, restart data is not updated when the device is restarted. To ensure restart data is captured, the device must be rebooted.
