Introduction

The HP Insights Windows Application (also called Windows Agent) can be installed via setup method, which ensures that all necessary components, dependencies, and configurations are properly set up to support the agent. The installation process includes the HP Insights package, HP Insights Analytics agent, and associated dependencies. This helps to ensure seamless data collection and reporting.

This article provides step-by-step guide to:

The setup consists of the following separate installation packages, with each package having its own independent version, prerequisites (as visible in the Add or Remove programs on a Windows device), and a Windows Task Scheduler task.

Downloading Windows Agent

  1. Visit https://workforceexperience.hp.com/software. The Download HP Insights Software page is displayed.

  2. On the Download HP Insights Software page, click HP Insights Windows Application. The versions list of HP Insights Windows Application is displayed.

  3. Click Download. Two types of installers are displayed:

    1. x86 Single Installer (.exe) or ARM64 Single Installer (.exe)

    2. x86 ZIP Package (.msi) or ARM64 ZIP Package (.msi)

      1. Option a - Single Installer (.exe):

        1. From the installer dropdown, select x86 Single Installer (.exe). A setup.exe file is downloaded. Use it for 32-Bit or 64-Bit platform.

        2. From the installer dropdown, select ARM64 Single Installer (.exe). A setuparm.exe file is downloaded. Use it for ARM64 platform.

      2. Option b - ZIP Package (.msi):

        1. From the installer dropdown, select x86 ZIP Package (.msi). A zip file named HPInsights.zip is downloaded. ii. From the installer dropdown, select ARM64 ZIP Package (.msi). A zip file named HPInsights-arm64.zip is downloaded.

Note: HP Insights version 5.26.13 onwards support ARM devices.

Installing Windows Agent Using the Single Installer (.exe) Method

Choose setup.exe to run on Intel based devices and setuparm.exe to run on ARM devices. The Windows Agent for HP Insights gets installed and performs the following actions:

  1. Installs the HP Insights package, including the VC++ Redistributable.

  2. Downloads and installs HP Insights Analytics package, including the HP Insights Analytics – Dependencies package and the HP Insights Updater Windows Task Scheduler task.

The HP Insights Windows Application consists of the following separate installation packages, with each package having its own independent version, pre-requisites (as visible in the Add/Remove programs on a Windows device), and a Windows Task Scheduler task.

Note:

  • The HP Insights Analytics will be downloaded and installed only when the following conditions are met:

    • The HP Insights Windows Application is successfully installed and the Windows device is enrolled.

    • The device is online for at least two hours after it is enrolled.

  • The HP Insights Analytics - Dependencies package cannot be installed on non-HP manufactured PCs, including Virtual Machines.
