Introduction
Web Application Experience Analytics provides critical insights into how employees use web applications. You'll need to perform two essential configurations: setting up the analytics feature in your HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) and deploying its browser extensions to devices to enable this feature and leverage its capabilities.
Workforce Experience Platform browser extensions are available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
This article provides a step-by-step guide for:
Configuring the analytics feature within the WXP platform settings.
Manually deploying the required HP WXP browser extensions to employee devices.
Target Audience
Primary audience:
IT administrators and support personnel who set up and manage the platform (All roles).
HP Partners who use the platform to manage their customers.
Internal and external developers who integrate with the platform.
Secondary audience:
Decision-makers, such as Product Managers, Sales team, and C-suite executives.
Setting up Web Application Experience Analytics
To enable Web Application Experience Analytics for gaining deeper insights into web application usage across employee devices, complete the following:
Configure the feature on the Settings page of WXP.
Deploy the browser extensions to the devices.
Prerequisites
HP Insights: 5.24.128 or above.
HP Insights Analytics: 4.2.2435.0 or above.
HP Insights Analytics plugin
SaaSDataAggregator Catalog: 1.0.329.0 or above.
SaaSHost Catalog: 1.0.105.0 or above.
If ring deployment is used, the plugin package version must be 1.0.12.0 or above.
Configuring Web Application Experience Analytics in WXP Settings
Log in to http://workforceexperience.hp.com. The Home page is displayed.
From the left menu of WXP, click Settings (gear icon). The Locations tab is displayed by default.
Select the Preferences tab. The available preferences are displayed.
On the Preferences tab, scroll to the Experience Score Preferences section and select Application Overview.
Using the toggle button, enable the Web Application Configuration.
Note: After the extensions are deployed, you can uninstall them across all devices by disabling the toggle option. It may take 1 to 30 minutes for the removal to take effect on all devices. A browser restart is required for the extension removal to become visible.
Click Add to set up at least one web application to monitor.
Select one of the three methods for deploying browser extensions:
Manual extension deployment using GPO or browser policy tools (default)
Automatic deployment via Windows Registry under HKCU (Current User)
Automatic deployment via Windows Registry under HKLM (Local Machine)
Note:
If manual extension deployment (a) option is selected, please follow the instructions in the below section titled Manually Deploy HP WXP Browser Extensions to Devices.
If automatic extension deployment (b or c) is selected, browser extensions of WXP is automatically added to the force-install list of browsers for all devices automatically to the selected level.
Ensure consistent set up of browser extension policy. Settings at a higher level, like Local Machine, can override those at a lower level, such as Current User, thereby causing uninstallation of extensions already set at the lower level.
Manually Deploy HP WXP Browser Extensions to Devices
When the step 7.a is selected from the previous section, in addition to setting up the WXP platform, you must deploy the HP Workforce Experience Platform browser extensions to devices across your fleet to collect data.
The browser extensions of HP Workforce Experience Platform are available at the following links:
Google Chrome browser: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hp-workforce-experience-p/gnbbpfafoelcnpgeiljdeancnfjidghp
Microsoft Edge browser: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/hp-workforce-experience-p/eclicldjmmagglgllemniippocflfkaa
Note: These browser extensions require devices enrolled in the Workforce Experience Platform and are therefore not available through public search.
HP offers the following options to deploy the browser extensions.
Add to the force-install list of your browser extension policy
Add the following WXP browser extension IDs to the force-install list of your browser extension policy to deploy the extensions. This can be done using management tools like Google Admin console or Microsoft Edge management service.
Extension ID for Google Chrome browser: gnbbpfafoelcnpgeiljdeancnfjidghp
Extension ID for Microsoft Edge browser: eclicldjmmagglgllemniippocflfkaa
For more information about using browser management tools, refer to the following:
Note: Ensure consistent setup of browser extension policy. Settings at a higher level, like Local Machine, can override those at a lower level, such as Current User, thereby causing the uninstallation of extensions already set at the lower level.
Group Policy (GPO)
Use Group Policy (GPO) to deploy extensions on all devices. HP provides a GPO policy file for this setup.
Download HP WXP GPO policy file from Click Here or Download Browser Extension Policy under HP Insights Windows Application section at http://workforceexperience.hp.com/software.
Use the ADMX and ADML files in the downloaded policy file for Chrome and Edge browsers.
