Introduction
FIPS are standards and guidelines for federal computer systems developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) per the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and approved by the Secretary of Commerce. These standards and guidelines are developed when there are no acceptable industry standards or solutions for a particular government requirement. Although FIPS are developed for use by the federal government, many private sectors voluntarily use these standards.

Target Audience
Primary audience:
IT administrators and support personnel who set up and manage the platform (All roles).
HP Partners who use the platform to manage their customers.
Internal and external developers who integrate with the platform.
Secondary audience: Decision-makers, such as Product Managers, Sales team, and C-suite executives.
What Happens if FIPS is Enabled?
If FIPS is enabled on a device before enrollment, the WXP Insights agent will fail to install.
If FIPS is enabled on a device after enrollment:
The WXP Insights agent and WXP Insights Analytics agent cannot be upgraded. However, it will continue to send data from the currently installed version.
The WXP Insights Analytics agent stops sending data completely. As a result, reports that rely on data from the WXP Insights Analytics agent (such as CPU and memory reports) will display “Unknown”. However, the device will still appear in the report because data from the WXP Insights agent continues to be sent.
How to detect if FIPS is Enabled?
Under the registry key FipsAlgorithmPolicy, if the Enabled value is set to 1, then FIPS is enabled.
