Why do I see an endpoint model in the wrong category?

When I am searching for models in my Endpoint Dataset in Tech Insights Admin, I see endpoints in the wrong categories. In the example below, I see a DX80 and an IX5000 appearing in the Software category.

Is there a way to fix this?

Solution

Yes, there is a way to fix this. If you are using our endpoint metadata tagging process (which uses an Endpoint_Metadata.csv file), we allow customers to override the defaults for the endpoint. If you need further assistance, please open a support ticket with us, and we will assist you.

Exporting Endpoint Inventory Information

To download details, such as system name, sub-category, IP address, serial number, endpoint software version, manufacturer, model, and vulnerabilities about your endpoints, please refer to our Downloading Endpoint Details from Tech Insights Analytics article.

Exporting Endpoint Tags and Location Information

Question: Trying to export an entire endpoint inventory with endpoint tags and location information. Where do I find this information?

Answer: In order to get the endpoint tags and location information, navigate to Tech Insights Analytics -> Endpoints tab -> Managed endpoints. If these columns are not available by default, you can click edit, and in the drop-down, you will find these fields. Add these fields and click Save. Select the date range for which you are trying to generate this report and click Share.

You can also report on endpoints by custom location or endpoint tagging. To do this, you will need to navigate to the endpoint itself and add tags or a location. To learn more about how to do this, please refer to our Reporting on endpoints by location/division article.

Downloading Endpoint Details from Tech Insights Analytics

In order to download details, such as system name, sub-category, IP address, serial number, endpoint software version, manufacturer, model, and vulnerabilities about your endpoints, please proceed as follows:

  • In Tech Insights Analytics navigate to Datasets -> Endpoints -> Inventory
  • Once the endpoint data is displayed, select Share on the top-right and fill out the form presented.
  • Select the format you require, and check your email address is valid before clicking Send.
  • An email with download links will be send after a few minutes. If you want to select Delivery Method as 'Local Report Exporter', check the following Knowledge document: Local Report Exporter.
