Introduction
A secondary instance of the HP WXP Collaboration Data Collector can be deployed as a backup to support scenarios where the primary instance is unavailable. This approach allows infrastructure validation on the secondary instance without creating duplicate data or impacting production data collection.
Key Considerations
The following considerations apply when configuring a secondary Data Collector instance:
The secondary data collector service should not be running. It should run only when required.
Infrastructure must be added and validated on the secondary instance without creating duplicate data.
Configuring a Secondary WXP Collaboration Data Collector Instance
A second instance of the WXP Collaboration Data Collector can be configured by following these guidelines:
Install the secondary WXP Collaboration Data Collector on a separate server.
For additional information, refer to the article - Data Collector Installation Guide.
Use the same service account for both the primary and secondary data collector instances.
For additional information, refer to the article - Data Collector Service Account Guide for account configuration details.
After entering the user name and password in the configuration utility, verify that all infrastructure is successfully pulled from the cloud and validate connectivity to each device. Once validation is complete and all devices are reachable, exit the configuration wizard without starting the services.
Open
services.mscon the secondary server and change the WXP Collaboration Data Collector service startup type from “Automatic” to “Manual.”Sign in to the Admin Portal of the WXP Collaboration.
Got to Status page, the secondary data collector instance appears with a red indicator instead of a green indicator, confirming that the service is not running.
