Windows Could Not Start Tech Insights Data Collector

Prev Next

Introduction

If the installation path of the HP WXP Collaboration Data Collector changes during an upgrade, the Windows service may start and then stop immediately after the upgrade of the HP WXP Collaboration Data Collector (vyoptacollector.exe). In this case, Windows displays an error message indicating that the Tech Insights Data Collector could not start. This occurs because the existing Windows service points to an invalid or outdated installation path.

This article provides guidance to resolve an issue where the Tech Insights Data Collector service fails to start after an upgrade.

Troubleshooting

Follow these steps to delete and recreate the Data Collector service:

  1. Open a Command Prompt with Administrator privileges.

  2. Run the following command to delete the existing service:

    SC DELETE VyoptaCPMDataCollectorService

  3. Go to the WXP Collaboration Data Collector installation folder.

  4. In the same Administrator Command Prompt window, run the following command:

    vyoptacollector.exe -install

After the command completes, the Tech Insights Data Collector service is recreated and available to restart.
