Overview
This article helps to prepare and validate a product catalog before uploading it. The catalog must include the required product, hardware, pricing, country, and currency information in the expected format.
Catalog records that do not meet the validation rules may be rejected during processing. Country and currency validation can also determine whether the system processes individual records or rejects the entire file.
Before you begin
Confirm the following before uploading your catalog:
The file contains products for only one country.
The Country Location value uses a supported two-letter country code.
All mandatory fields contain a value.
Numeric fields contain only permitted numeric characters.
Related multi-value fields contain the same number of values.
Every product price is greater than zero.
The product currency is appropriate for the catalog country or qualifies for USD fallback processing.
Important
A catalog file can contain only one distinct Country Location value. Do not combine products from multiple countries in the same file.

Product price examples
Value | Result | Reason |
1299.99 | Accepted | Numeric value greater than zero |
1,299.99 | Accepted | Commas are removed before storage |

Entering products with multiple components
Some catalog fields can contain multiple values. When multiple values are entered, related fields must contain the same number of values.
The following field groups are validated together:
Processor Manufacturer, Processor Model, and Processor Speed (GHz)
Memory Capacity (GB) and Memory Type
Graphics Card Details, Graphics Card Manufacturer, and Graphics Card Model
Storage Size (GB) and Storage Type
For example, if a record contains two processor manufacturer values, it must also contain two processor model values and two processor speed values.
Good practice
For easy validation, review related columns side by side before uploading. A mismatched number of values can cause the record to fail validation.
Country and currency validation
The upload process selects one of three currency-handling modes after evaluating the Country Location and Product Currency values in the file.
1. Strict mapping mode
Strict mapping mode is selected when at least one row contains a valid country-currency combination.
In this mode:
Rows with a valid country-currency combination are processed.
Rows with a non-matching combination are rejected.
Example:
For a catalog using country code IN:
IN with INR is processed.
If the file contains both INR and USD, the INR records are processed because a valid country-currency mapping exists.
2. USD fallback mode
USD fallback mode is selected when:
No valid country-currency mapping exists in the file, and
At least one row uses USD.
In this mode:
Rows with Product Currency = USD are processed.
All non-USD rows are rejected.
Example
For a catalog using country code IN:
IN with only USD is processed through the USD fallback mechanism.
If the file contains USD and EUR, the USD records are processed and the EUR records are rejected.
3. Reject-all mode
Reject-all mode is selected when:
The file contains no valid country-currency mapping, and
No row uses USD.
In this mode, no rows are processed.
Example
For a catalog using country code IN:
IN with only EUR is rejected.
A file containing EUR and JPY is rejected because neither currency is valid for IN and the file does not contain USD.
Country and currency processing summary
File condition | Processing mode | Result |
At least one row has a valid country-currency mapping | Strict mapping | Validly mapped rows are processed; non-matching rows are rejected |
No valid mapping exists, but at least one row uses USD | USD fallback | USD rows are processed; non-USD rows are rejected |
No valid mapping exists and no row uses USD | Reject all | No rows are processed |
Pre-upload checklist
Before uploading the file, verify each of the following:
File-level checks
The file contains only one distinct Country Location value.
The country is represented by a supported country code.
The product currencies are valid for the selected country, or the intended records qualify for USD fallback processing.

Data-format checks
Processor Cores contains only digits, commas, and decimal points.
Processor Speed contains only digits, commas, and decimal points.
Memory Capacity contains only digits, commas, and decimal points.
Storage Size contains only digits, commas, and decimal points.
Product Price is numeric and greater than zero.
Related multi-value fields contain the same number of values.
Product URLs and image URLs are entered as intended.
Troubleshooting common validation failures
The entire file was rejected
Check whether the file contains a valid country-currency mapping. If no valid mapping exists and no record uses USD, reject-all mode is applied and no rows are processed.
Some rows were processed and others were rejected
Check the currency values:
If at least one valid country-currency pair exists, only validly mapped rows are processed.
If no valid mapping exists but USD is present, only USD rows are processed.
A hardware configuration failed validation
Compare the number of values in the associated fields:
Processor Manufacturer, Model, and Speed
Memory Capacity and Type
Graphics Card Details, Manufacturer, and Model
Storage Size and Type
A price was rejected
Confirm the price:
Is not blank
Contains only digits, commas, and decimal points
Is numeric
Is greater than zero
A country’s value was rejected
Confirm that:
The value is a supported country code.
Only one distinct country value appears in the file.
The currency is valid for that country or qualifies for USD fallback processing.
Appendix: Common country and currency mappings
