Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that supports communication, meetings, file sharing, and app integration in a unified workspace. You can integrate the HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) with Microsoft Teams using webhook URLs to receive real-time alerts and notifications directly in Teams channels. This integration helps teams respond faster and work more efficiently.

Key features

  • Informative Notifications: Deliver WXP alerts to Teams channels so users stay informed in real time.

  • Seamless Integration: Create channel webhooks and link them to WXP alerts to receive notifications instantly.

  • Enhanced Collaboration: Centralize alerts in Teams to streamline communication and speed up issue resolution.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure the following conditions are met:

  • You have the Connector Admin role in WXP to access integrations and connectors.

  • You have the IT Admin role in WXP to configure alerts in Alerts Management.

  • Your Microsoft Teams account is active, and you are a member of the Teams channel(s) where you want to receive WXP alerts.

For more information about roles and permissions, see the Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) section in Authentication.

Create Webhooks for Teams Channels

You can create a webhook in any Teams channel where you want to receive WXP alerts.

Note: You don’t need to be the Teams channel owner. Any channel member can create a webhook.

  1. In Microsoft Teams, go to the Teams and channels and locate the channel where you want to receive alerts.

  1. In the Teams and channels list, hover over the channel name and click the More options action icon with three dots (⋯).

  1. From the More options menu, select Workflows to open the workflow templates.

  1. In the Find templates search bar, type Send webhook alerts from people in an org to a channel, and then select the corresponding workflow.

  1. In the workflow configuration dialog, verify that the workflow parameters match the correct Team and Channel, then select Save.

  1. After saving, select Copy webhook link to copy the generated URL to use for integration with WXP.

  1. For each additional Teams channel, repeat Steps 2 through 6 for as many channels as you would like to receive one or more WXP Alerts in.

Activate the Microsoft Teams Connector in WXP

After you’ve created the webhooks, connect WXP to Microsoft Teams.

  1. In WXP, go to Integrations page.

  2. In the Integrations page, locate Microsoft Teams and select Configure.

  1. Under Channel Name, enter a name for the integration.

This is an alias and does not need to match the Teams channel name.

  2. Under Webhook URL, paste the Webhook URL you copied earlier. (Refer to the Creating Webhooks for Teams Channels section above for instructions.)

  3. Click Save.

  1. To add more channels, select Add Webhook and repeat the previous step.

  2. Click Save.

  3. After saving, on the Microsoft Teams connector card, click Connect.

  1. In the Microsoft Teams dialog, click Connect and sign in with your Microsoft credentials.

  1. The Microsoft Teams connector card updates to show Connected once the integration is active.

Receiving Alert Notifications in Teams Channels

After setup, configure WXP alerts to send notifications to Teams channels.

1. In WXP, go to Alerts Management.

2. Follow the steps in the Configuring Alerts in Workforce Experience Platform guide to add Teams notifications to an alert.

3. When a configured alert is triggered, it will appear in the connected Teams channel.

Each Teams alert message includes:

  • A title identifying it as an HP WXP Alert

  • The alert name

  • The severity level (Low, Medium, High, Critical)

  • The number of impacted devices

Here’s an example of a WXP Alert notification in a Teams channel showing battery wear detection details for multiple devices.
