Overview

The HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) integrates with Entra ID account details to sync employee information, enabling deeper insights and smarter audience targeting for Pulses.

Key Capabilities

We currently import key attributes like Employee department and Office location, allowing IT admins to personalize Pulses and boost response rates by more effectively targeting specific groups.

Use Cases

  • Department-Specific Feedback
Target Pulse surveys to specific departments (e.g., Engineering, HR) to understand how different teams experience digital tools and identify unique support needs.

  • Location-Based Sentiment Analysis
Send Pulses to employees by office location to uncover regional trends, such as connectivity issues or satisfaction with local IT support.

Prerequisites

Data - To enable Employee Department and Employee Office Location as filters for Pulse targeting after setting up the Entra ID Accounts connector:

  • Your company’s organizational hierarchy must be stored in Entra ID.

  • The hierarchy should include at least three levels.

  • The second level from the top is used to populate the Employee Department filter.

Each user created in Entra ID has a Manager field associated with it. For example, in the below image of the Test User page, you can add a manager. If all users have this field set, then it is possible to trace the user’s organization hierarchy from top to bottom.

Note: We recommend setting the manager correctly for each user. If a user does not have a manager associated with it, it is discarded unless we identify it as L0 (top of the hierarchy).

The sample hierarchies are below:

  • Setup A is desirable. This setup is correct—all users have a manager, leading to a single L0 user.

  • Setup B includes users K and K1 without managers. These users will be discarded.

  • Setup C has two hierarchies. The smaller hierarchy will be discarded.

  • Setup D will produce wrong results because the actual hierarchy (with correct L0) has only two users. We will be discarding this hierarchy and sending over the wrong one.

Permissions - The IT team will need a person with the appropriate role and permissions to connect to an application that will have access to the Entra ID user resource. This may be an administrative-level role. Additionally, IT teams may need to undergo cybersecurity reviews to gain approval to use this connector.

  1. An Entra ID Tenant.

    1. Login to https://portal.azure.com with your work email credentials.

  2. The Microsoft Azure Portal page is displayed.

3. An Entra ID user/service account must have the following permissions:
User.Read.All offline_access openid User.Read

Note: A privileged role may be required for this action. Please contact your Entra ID administrator for assistance.
