Overview of Configurable Alerts

Introduction

The Configurable Alerts feature in the Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) enables IT administrators to proactively monitor devices and stay informed about potential issues before they impact productivity. These preconfigured alerts help identify emerging issues affecting the employee experience and plan for remedial actions.

This feature supports over 15 preconfigured alerts for monitoring key issues that degrade the overall employee experience, from OS performance to security metrics and more. In addition, you can:

  • Configure custom content and thresholds to tailor alerts to your organization's specific needs.

  • View alerts in the platform and view notifications when new alerts are raised.

Key Features

Some of the key features include:

  • Predefined alerts with preset thresholds: Gain immediate value with 15+ preconfigured alerts that require minimal setup, allowing teams to start monitoring issues without significant administrative effort.

  • Adjust thresholds and content: Edit alerts to modify fleet-level thresholds, severity level, and alert description to align with your specific organizational priorities.

  • Disable or delete unneeded alerts: Reduce noise by disabling or removing redundant or irrelevant alerts. This will help you and your team focus only on critical issues.

  • View alerts and take action: View all active alerts for your organization in a central place to quickly assess all the current issues affecting the employee experience. You can also view detailed insights into a specific alert, identify all impacted devices, and take corrective actions to resolve.

  • Manage alert notifications: Specify the user roles that should receive alert notifications. Send notifications via the Notifications (bell icon) feature in the top-right corner of the platform, email, or both.

Target Audience

  • Primary audience:

    • IT administrators and support personnel who set up and manage the platform.

  • Secondary audience:

    • Internal and external developers who integrate with the platform.

    • Decision-makers, such as Product Managers, Sales team, and C-suite executives.

Use Cases

  1. Proactive monitoring for emerging issues based on custom thresholds

    1. Scenario: As an IT team, you want to be notified only when BSODs have occurred on a specific percentage of your fleet.

    2. Solution: Customize the BSOD alert threshold to trigger notifications only when errors impact a significant portion of devices. Update the BSOD alert to set a custom fleet-level threshold to specify when the alert should be triggered. This ensures your team is notified only when the issue has reached a level where action is needed, thereby reducing noise.

  2. Call attention to issues that are most important to your teams

    1. Scenario: Your organization considers security issues more pressing than performance or system health issues and wants alerts to reflect this prioritization.

    2. Solution: Update all predefined alerts focused on security issues by assigning higher severity levels and lower thresholds compared to other alert metrics. Also, update the alert title and description to emphasize the impact of security-related issues. These customizations will ensure your team remains focused on the issues that matter most.

  3. Notify IT teams via multiple channels

    1. Scenario: Your IT teams are not always checking their notification feed, but they want to be informed of new alerts.

    2. Solution: Specify the roles that should receive notifications via email, in addition to in-platform notifications, to guarantee the right members are informed of new alerts, even if they are not currently monitoring the platform.
