Installing WXP Insights Agent Using Single Installer (.exe) Method

Introduction

The WXP Insights agent is a core component of HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) and is used to enroll devices, collect telemetry, enable communication between the devices and WXP, and provide key insights about your fleet.

The agent can be installed via setup method, which ensures that all necessary components, dependencies, and configurations are properly set up to support the agent. The installation process includes the WXP Insights package, WXP Insights Analytics agent, and associated dependencies. This helps to ensure seamless data collection and reporting.

This article provides step-by-step guide to:

• Download WXP Insights Agent

• Install WXP Insights Agent using the Single Installer (.exe) Method

The setup consists of the following separate installation packages, with each package having its own independent version, prerequisites (as visible in the Add or Remove programs on a Windows device), and a Windows Task Scheduler task.

Downloading WXP Insights Agent

1. Visit https://workforceexperience.hp.com/software. The Download WXP Insights Software page is displayed.

2. On the Download WXP Insights Software page, click WXP Insights Windows Application. The versions list of agents is displayed.

3. Click Download. Two types of installers are displayed:

   1. x86 Single Installer (.exe) or Arm64 Single Installer (.exe)

   2. x86 ZIP Package (.msi) or Arm64 ZIP Package (.msi)

      1. Option a - Single Installer (.exe):

         • From the installer dropdown, select x86 Single Installer (.exe). A setup.exe file is downloaded. Use it for 32-Bit or 64-Bit platform.

         • From the installer dropdown, select Arm64 Single Installer (.exe). A setuparm.exe file is downloaded. Use it for Arm64 platform.

           Note: For WXP Insights Agent version 5.26.66 onwards, the executable files for x86 and Arm devices are renamed as follows:

           • setup.exe → WXPInsights.exe

           • setuparm.exe→ WXPInsights-arm.exe

      2. Option b - ZIP Package (.msi):

         • From the installer dropdown, select x86 ZIP Package (.msi). A zip file named WXPInsights.zip is downloaded.

         • From the installer dropdown, select Arm64 ZIP Package (.msi). A zip file named HPInsights-arm64.zip is downloaded.

           Note: For WXP Insights agent versions 5.26.66 onwards, the ZIP Package file for x86 and Arm devices is renamed to WXPInsights.zip,WXPInsights-arm64.ziprespectively.

Note: WXP Insights version 5.26.13 onwards supports Arm devices.

Installing WXP Insights Agent Using the Single Installer (.exe) Method

Select setup.exe to run on Intel based devices and setuparm.exe to run on Arm devices. The WXP Insights agent gets installed and performs the following actions:

1. Installs the WXP Insights package, including the VC++ Redistributable.

2. Downloads and installs WXP Insights Analytics package, including the WXP Insights Analytics – Dependencies package and the WXP Insights Updater Windows Task Scheduler task.

The WXP Insights agent for Windows consists of the following separate installation packages, with each package having its own independent version, pre-requisites (as visible in the Add/Remove programs on a Windows device), and a Windows Task Scheduler task.

Note:

• The WXP Insights Analytics will be downloaded and installed only when the following conditions are met:

  • The WXP Insights agent is successfully installed, and the Windows device is enrolled.

  • The device is online for at least two hours after it is enrolled.

• The WXP Insights Analytics - Dependencies package cannot be installed on non-HP manufactured PCs, including Virtual Machines.
