Introduction

The BIOS Inventory report shows the BIOS status of all enrolled devices in your organization. This report is useful to identify devices with outdated BIOS versions and those that need critical updates. Using this data, you (IT administrators) can plan and perform updates to ensure systems are secure and stable.

This report also provides detailed, device-specific information, such as BIOS version, device type, and manufacturer. It also shows changes in BIOS status over time and the different BIOS versions used for each device model.

The data is displayed across multiple tabs: Summary, Unique BIOS, By Week, and Details.

Summary - Reviewing BIOS Compliance

This tab presents a visual breakdown of BIOS versions by device model. Each bar represents the current BIOS status for a specific model:

  • Latest: Displayed in green to indicate the device has the most recent BIOS version.
  • Old: Displayed in yellow to indicate the BIOS version is outdated but not critical.
  • Requiring Critical Update: Displayed in red to indicate the BIOS version requires an urgent update.
  • Unknown: Displayed in gray to indicate the BIOS version is unrecognized or unreported.

This visualization enables you to quickly identify device models needing attention and implement measures that enhance system stability and security.

Unique BIOS - Understanding BIOS Versions by Model

This tab displays a bar chart where the X-axis represents the number of unique BIOS versions, and the Y-axis represents the device models. It helps IT teams identify inconsistencies in BIOS updates within the same model and uncover opportunities to standardize BIOS versions across all devices. Hover over a bar to view the different BIOS versions used within that device model.

By Week - Access Weekly View of BIOS Update Status

This tab features a bar chart that monitors changes in BIOS status over time. The X-axis denotes the time period, while the Y-axis indicates the percentage share of the total number of devices. Devices are categorized into four groups:

  • Latest: Devices with the most recent BIOS version.
  • Old: Devices with an outdated but non-critical BIOS version.
  • Requiring Critical Update: Devices requiring an urgent BIOS update.
  • Unknown: Devices where the BIOS version is unreported.

The chart displays the percentage of total devices in each category over time, enabling IT teams in monitoring BIOS compliance trends and facilitating timely interventions.
