Adding Cisco Meeting Server (CMS)

Prev Next

Introduction

The Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) integration with the WXP Collaboration application is important for monitoring and analytics. By creating a service account and adding CMS to the WXP Collaboration Data Collector, organizations can collect call detail records (CDRs), track system usage, and view performance data. This information helps IT administrators maintain service quality, troubleshoot issues, and plan for future capacity needs.

Integration Steps

The integration requires two main tasks: creating a service account in Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) and adding the CMS Connector in the Admin Portal of WXP Collaboration application. Follow these steps in sequence to complete the setup.

Step 1: Setting up a Service Account for Cisco Meeting Server (CMS)

To use the CMS meeting and user reporting APIs, you must create a service account with read-only administrator access.

  1. Connect to the CMS server by using SSH.

  2. Sign in with the administrator account. For example, admin@10.10.10.200.

  3. Run this command: user add vyopta_svc api

  4. Enter the password for the vyopta_svc account.

  5. To verify that the API role is set and check the password expiration, run: user list

  6. Close the SSH session

Note: CMS passwords expire after 180 days by default. This means you must update the service account password twice a year. If your organization allows, you can change the password policy before creating the vyopta_svc account.

To change the default password expiration period, log into the CMS command line interface with the admin account (but before adding the Vyopta_svc account), and enter this command: user rule password_age NNNN.Replace NNNN with the number of days before a password expires. For example, to set the expiration to 5 years, run: user rule password_age 1825

If the vyopta_svc account is already created and you want to extend its expiration, run the command:passwd vyopta_svc

  • Confirm with the administrator password.

  • Re-enter the current password for vyopta_svc.

  • You do not need to change the password. If you do change it, update the password in the WXP Collaboration Apps Management Portal

Step 2: Adding a CMS Connector

To add a CMS Connector, you need:

  • Access to your organization’s CMS webpage from the WXP Collaboration Data Collector.

  • The CMS read-only API service account credentials from Step 1.

Adding the CMS instance

  1. Log in to the Admin Portal of WXP collaboration. The Home page is displayed.

  2. On the Home page, select Infrastructure > New Infrastructure. The Add New Infrastructure page is displayed. The existing infrastructure types are displayed.

  3. From the list of infrastructure types, select +CMS.

  4. Enter the connection and account details:

    1. Name: Enter a descriptive name.

    2. Description: Enter the server description.

    3. Host Address – Enter the IP address or URL.

    4. Host Port: Enter the port number (default: 443).

    5. Login: Enter the service account username.

    6. Password: Enter the service account password.

    7. Protocol: Select HTTP or HTTPS.

  5. Click Save. A new menu appears.

  6. In the new menu, enter the server parameters:

    1. Server Type: Select VM, X2, or X3.

    2. Max 720p Calls: Enter the maximum supported number of 720p calls.

    3. Media Tokens Limit: Enter the number of media tokens if required.

    4. Server Media Load Limit: Enter the media load limit.

    5. (Optional) Select CMS is Edge Only, if applicable.

Note: For fractionally licensed X2 or X3 systems, select VM and enter the maximum number of concurrent HD calls.

  7. Click Save to save the Configuration settings. A new menu will appear to specify the parameters of the CMS server.

  8. In the new menu, enable the server by using the toggle option at the top of the configuration window.

    1. The system connects to and validates the CMS server.

    2. When validated, a URL for the CDR Forward URL appears.

    3. Copy this link and paste it into the CDR Forward URL field in CMS settings.

Important:

  • Port 22280 is the default port used by the WXP Collaboration Data Collector to listen to inbound CMS CDR data.

    • If port 22280 is not open in your network, submit a support ticket.

  • For Acano versions earlier than 1.8 or for deployments that require more than two CDR streams, contact support@wxp.hp.com.
