CMS Capacity Calculation in WXP Collaboration

Prev Next

Introduction

When calculating CMS capacity metrics in WXP Collaboration, the following input values are used:

  • System Capacity

  • Currrent HD Port Usage

System Capacity

System capacity is calculated based on the configured server type, which can be X2, X3, or VM. The value is expressed as the Media Tokens Limit.

  • If the CMS type is VM, the value is taken from the MediaTokensLimit license key.

  • For X2, the concurrent HD port capacity is 125 HD (720p) ports. This equals 3,000 Media Tokens.

  • For X3, the concurrent HD port capacity is 250 HD (720p) ports. This equals 6,000 Media Tokens.

WXP Collaboration uses Media Token values to calculate concurrent HD port utilization.

Current HD Port Usage

Current usage is calculated from data transmitted by the bridge. Video data token usage is determined by video stream characteristics such as picture width, height, and frame rate.

For license consumption, usage is grouped into bands for CMS:

  • Audio, 320x240p30: 1 token

  • 320x240p30, 640x360p30: 1/8 HD port or 3 tokens

  • 640x360p30, 640x480p30: 5/12 HD port or 10 tokens

  • 640x360p30, 1280x720p30: 1/2 HD port or 12 tokens

  • 1280x720p60, 1920x1080p30: 1 HD port or 24 tokens

  • 1920x1080p30 and higher: 2 HD ports or 48 tokens

How WXP Collaboration Receives the Data

The system type and media tokens key data are stored in the Analytics platform.
They are also transmitted by the Data Collector in the real-time data stream.
Real-time data also includes the current HD port usage.
