Introduction
The Devices module in the HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) enables you to search for devices using device attributes, apply custom filters to narrow down the list, as well as export device details for further analysis, reporting, and fleet management. .
This article provides step-by-step guide to:
Searching for Devices
Each column on the Devices listing page has a search box to find devices based on attributes such as Serial Number, Model, Status, PC Type, Location, and more.
To search for devices:
Log in to WXP. The Home page is displayed.
From the left menu of WXP, click Devices > PCs. The Devices listing page is displayed.
On the Devices listing page, use the column-specific search box to enter keywords. The system returns devices that match the search criteria.
For example, to search for devices with a specific model name, In the search box in the Model column, enter the full or partial model name to get devices that match the entered keywords.
Use or more column for targeted search.
The page automatically updates to display devices that match your search criteria.
Creating a New Filter
The filter functionality offers an advanced way to refine device listings based on multiple conditions. This allows for greater flexibility when searching for devices that meet specific criteria. Follow these steps to create and apply filters:
From the left menu of WXP, click Devices > PCs. The Devices listing page is displayed.
On the Devices listing page, click the Filter icon. A Filters panel is displayed on the far right, showing the following options:
Existing filters: A list of saved filters.
Search: A search box to find saved filters.
Create New: An option to create a new filter.
Click Create New and enter the following details:
In the Filter Name field, enter an intuitive name for your filter. In addition:
Filter Type: In the filter panel, filters are marked as Private or Public for easy distinction. Select one of the following.
Public: The filter is accessible to all users.
Private: The filter is only visible to the logged in user.
Criteria 1: Specify your filter conditions.
Field: Choose the field to filter by. For example, you want to filter devices based on Status, Location, or Department.
Operator: From the dropdown, select an operator, such as
Equals
orDoes not Equal
.Value: Select or enter a value corresponding to the field.
To include additional criteria, click Add Criteria and repeat the steps of Criteria 1.
Click Save to apply your filter to the device listing.
For example, to create a public filter active devices in New York location, you can specify the criteria as follows:
Filter Name: Active devices in New York
Filter Type: Public
Criteria 1
Field: Status
Operator: Equals
Value: Active
Criteria 2:
Field: Location
Operator: Equals
Value: New York
The page will refresh, displaying only the devices that match your filter criteria.
Exporting Devices List
To export a list of devices:
From the left menu of WXP, click Devices > PCs. The Devices listing page is displayed in a tabular, paginated view.
Using the checkbox next to each device, select one or more devices. The Export feature is displayed when at least one device is selected.
Select devices directly from the list or use the search and filter functionality to find the required devices.
Using the checkbox, select one or more devices or select all devices on the current page.
Click Export. A dialog box appears titled Export Device. Select one of the two options:
Current fields from table: Select this option to export all columns available in the current view.
Using the gear icon for Column Options manage the columns displayed in the default view.
All editable fields: Select this option to export all editable fields of the selected device.
This option is recommended when you want to update certain fields and import the changes.
Select one of the export options. A popup message is displayed that export is in progress and the file will be available in the Notifications.
Click the Notifications icon on the top right of the page (next to the profile) to view exported files.
Hover over a file to view three dots with the options: Mark as read, Download File, and Clear.
Click the Download File link to download the file to your local computer.
The download link is valid only for 60 minutes.
The selected devices are exported.
Note:
The editable fields are labelled in the exported .CSV file.
Navigating away from the current page unselects the devices.
Exporting Details of a Single Device
To export details of a particular device:
From the left menu of WXP, click Devices > PCs. The Devices listing page is displayed in a tabular, paginated view.
Click the Serial Number of a device. The Device details page is displayed.
On the Device details page, click Action and select Export Data from the dropdown. A popup message is displayed that export is in progress and the download will be available in the Notification center.
Click Notifications icon on the top right of the page (next to the profile) to view exported files. Hovering the mouse over a file displays three options - Mark as read, Download File, and Clear.
Click the Download File link to download the file to your local computer.
The downloadable link is valid only for 60 minutes.
