Overview of the WXP Sustainability Dashboard

Prev Next

Introduction

The Sustainability Dashboard feature of the Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) offers clear and actionable insights into power consumption across your device fleet. This helps you identify opportunities to enhance sustainability by using the following methods to measure consumption:

  • Power Consumption Measurement (PCM): This method uses a dedicated hardware chip for precise and real-time energy tracking, with an accuracy of ~97%. This method provides precise power consumption data in all states, such as Active, Sleep, and Shutdown, and is most reliable for detailed analysis and compliance.

  • Estimated Consumption (EC): This method uses a software-based estimation using BIOS data, with an accuracy of 70%–89%. While less precise than PCM, EC provides useful estimates and offers a robust alternative for a broader device compatibility.

Only HP PCs with integrated PCM or EC technology are supported for precise power consumption monitoring; unsupported devices are omitted from tracking.

Target Audience

  • Primary audience:

    • IT administrators and support personnel who set up and manage the platform (All roles).

    • HP Partners who use the platform to manage their customers.

    • Internal and external developers who integrate with the platform.

  • Secondary audience:

    • Internal and external developers who integrate with the platform.

    • Decision-makers, such as Product Managers, Sales team, and C-suite executives.

Prerequisites

The WXP power consumption dashboard requires a Workforce Experience Platform Elite subscription.

Note

Key Features

  • Power insights: Access detailed power consumption data gathered through EC and PCM methodologies for supported HP devices. Track power consumption (kWh) in weekly intervals over the past 12 weeks.

  • Optimization opportunities: Uncover inefficiencies and align your IT infrastructure with organizational sustainability goals using the dashboard data. For example, if certain device models consume significantly more power, adjusting power settings or upgrading hardware may help reduce energy use. Unexpectedly high consumption could indicate the need for diagnostics or performance tuning.

  • Visual representation: Gain a clear understanding of power consumption trends through intuitive graphical insights. Line charts display changes in power usage over time, while bar charts provide a comparative view of energy consumption across different devices or models. These visualizations help identify patterns, detect anomalies, and support data-driven decision-making for energy optimization.

  • Find and Export Data: Use search and filter options to find relevant information and export data for further analysis and reporting.

Use Cases

1. Reducing IT Energy Consumption

  • Scenario: Your organization wants to lower energy costs and meet sustainability goals.

  • Solution: Use weekly power consumption data to identify devices consuming high energy. Also, optimize device usage policies. For example, power-saving modes and upgrade strategies.

2. Improving IT Budgeting for Energy Costs

  • Scenario: Your IT team wants to forecast energy costs for IT operations.

  • Solution: Use dashboard insights to estimate power costs by department or region. Also, align hardware procurement decisions with energy efficiency goals.

3. Optimizing Remote Work Sustainability

  • Scenario: Your organization has a hybrid workforce and wants to ensure energy-efficient device usage.

  • Solution: Compare power consumption of remote vs. in-office devices. Also, identify underutilized devices that may require policy adjustments.

4. Compliance and Sustainability Reporting

  • Scenario: Your company needs power consumption data for sustainability audits.

  • Solution: Use fleet-wide energy reports for corporate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance for reporting purpose.
