Introduction
The WXP team has identified that specific PC models, particularly newer Windows 11 models using BIOS families such as W82 or WU, may incorrectly display Unsupported BIOS updates in the HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP). This article explains the cause, impact, and resolution timeline.
Symptoms
You may observe the following in WXP:
- Devices show "Unsupported" or “NA” for BIOS updates or remediation in the Active Alerts section, resulting in a reduced count of compatible-device lists for BIOS-related remediations.
- Incorrect BIOS version or status information displayed in reports.
- Inconsistent device counts across Alerts, Reports, and Device Details views.
Cause
The underlying BIOS data service does not currently support WU BIOS families used by newer Windows 11 devices. When the service cannot identify the BIOS family, the platform incorrectly reports the device as “Unsupported” or “NA” for BIOS remediation, even though updates may be available.
Impact
This issue affects reporting only. Actual device health and update capabilities are not impacted. BIOS updates may still be available and can be applied to affected devices through standard update methods.
Listing a few of the Windows 11 models that showcase this issue
- HP Pro Tower 290 G9 Desktop PC — status shows NA in the report.
- HP Pro One 240 G10 All‑in‑One — status shows NA in the report.
- HP EliteBook 845 14‑inch G11 — G11 devices broadly exhibit “NA”.
- HP ProBook 600 G1 — identified as old/unsupported.
Resolution
An upgraded BIOS data service is scheduled for release late January for internal validation across multiple models, and a GA release is planned for February.
This update will:
- Provide full support for all Windows 11 BIOS families, including W82 and WU.
- Display correct remediation status and BIOS version information.
- Align device counts across Alerts, Reports, and Device Details

FAQ
Q: Are devices G5 and above guaranteed to show in Alerts now?
A: Not yet. The legacy BIOS data service undercounts devices in some cases; the SW update fixing this is targeted for a January preview and February GA.
Q: Why do AMD platforms look inconsistent?
A: HP internal teams introduced logic incompatible with AMD in WU; SW update fixing this is targeted for January preview, February GA.
