Introduction
The reports and displays from Tech Insights Monitoring and Tech Insights Analytics are not expected to be identical. This is because each module captures different types of data based on the reporting and insights they are designed to provide.
Tech Insights Monitoring: Tech Insights Monitoring leverages real-time APIs to capture current activities and statistics for each monitored endpoint and infrastructure device. Data is collected at the most granular level. For example, individual call legs between conferencing nodes are captured and displayed in Tech Insights Monitoring.
Tech Insights Analytics: Tech Insights Analytics leverages CDR records and log APIs to capture all activities recorded in the infrastructure devices’ short-term databases. This includes all calls, including very short or failed calls.
Common Scenarios Where the Data May Not Match
Seeing data in Tech Insights Analytics that does not appear in Tech Insights Monitoring: Since Tech Insights Analytics captures all calls from the infrastructure database, it serves as the system of record for call activity. Tech Insights Monitoring may not capture some calls in real time, especially those that fail or end within a few seconds.
Seeing data in Tech Insights Monitoring that does not appear in Tech Insights Analytics: Tech Insights Monitoring may show duplicated call legs to support troubleshooting at the call-path level. While this provides diagnostic value, it can overstate call volume. Tech Insights Analytics applies cleansing and deduplication logic to present accurate call metrics.
Tech Insights Monitoring and Tech Insights Analytics obtain data from different sources. Tech Insights Monitoring uses real-time data feeds from endpoints and infrastructure, while Tech Insights Analytics uses historical data such as call records and system configuration. Because of these differences, mismatches may occur, particularly when either module has delays or gaps in updating.
