Prev Next

Prerequisite

You must run WXP Collaboration Data Collector version 4.6.0 or later.

Steps to Add a Polycom RMX device

Step 1 – Set up a Service Account for Polycom RealPresence Collaboration server (RMX)

The service account must have full read/write administrator credentials. Accounts with read-only privileges cannot retrieve CDR data through the Polycom API.

Add and verify Polycom RMX service account credentials
To add and verify the Polycom RMX service account credentials:

  1. Open the Polycom RMX Manager application and select Users.
  2. Click New User to open the User Properties dialog box.
  3. Under User Name, enter vyopta_svc as Username for the service account.
  4. Under Password, enter the password for the service account.
  5. In the Authorization Level drop-down list, select Administrator.
  6. Click OK to add the user account.
  7. Log out of Polycom RMX Manager.
  8. Log back in with the service account credentials to verify successful access.

Step 2 - Add a Polycom RMX Connector

To add a Polycom RMX Connector, you need:

  • Access to the FQDN/IP address of the RMX from the WXP Collaboration Data Collector
  • Port 80/443 must be open between the WXP Collaboration Data Collector and the Polycom RMX
  • Credentials for the user service account on the Polycom RMX

Add an RMX instance
Follow these steps to add an RMX instance:

  1. Go to the WXP Collaboration Admin Portal and sign in with your credentials.
  2. Select Infrastructure > New Infrastructure.
  3. From the list of infrastructure types, click Polycom RMX.

Note

We recommend using the hostname instead of the IP address, because IP addresses may change. Use a friendly, descriptive name for the infrastructure to make it easier to identify.

  1. In Description, enter details such as device type, location, or other unique identifiers.
  2. In the Hostname/IP Address, enter the Polycom RMX hostname or IP address.
  3. Enter the administrator Username and Password.
  4. Select Save.
  5. After saving, the page displays two new buttons: Disabled (top) and Validate (bottom).
  6. Select Validate to confirm the collector can connect to the infrastructure. A pop-up window appears.

  1. If validation fails, select the Details arrow for more information (for example, invalid login credentials or network connection issues). Correct the problem and retry.
  2. When validation succeeds, change the Disabled button to Enabled to start monitoring and data collection.
