Note: A Platform Account (HPID) with Report Admin or IT Admin rights is required. Creating a service account is the recommended approach.

Login to Tableau Cloud App:

  1. Go to the Tableau Cloud URL: https://sso.online.tableau.com/public/idp/SSO

  1. In the login page, enter your credentials. Click Sign in to access the Tableau Cloud environment.

Tableau Desktop:

Download and launch Tableau Desktop. The application will usually prompt you for credentials. After authentication, your Tableau Desktop environment opens.

HP Workforce Experience (WXP): Tableau Connector Activation

Activate the Tableau connector in WXP to visualize data in Tableau Cloud.

  1. In the WXP, go to Integrations > Connectors.

  2. In the Tableau card, click Connect.

  1. In the activation pop-up, click Activate.

  1. In the pop-up, sign in with the Tableau username and password. Click Connect.

  1. The Tableau integration card displays Connected.

Tableau Data Connection and Refresh Schedule

  • Estimated time for initial data pull: Maximum 10 minutes.

  • Data refresh frequency: Every 24 hours from connection time.

Troubleshooting Tips

Common Issues and Solutions:

  1. Error: "Connection Failed"

    • Cause: Incorrect data source credentials or the server is unreachable.

    • Solution: Verify data source credentials and network connectivity.

  2. Issue: Workbook Not Publishing

    • Cause: The file size exceeds the allowed limit, or you lack the necessary publishing permissions.

    • Solution: Compress the workbook or confirm you have the correct user permissions.
