Introduction
The Remote Connect feature in HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) enables IT teams to remotely diagnose, fix, and recover multi-vendor PCs, even when the operating system (OS) is not running. It provides fast and secure remote support to minimize disruption for both employees and IT teams.
This feature is available with WXP Pro and WXP Elite plans or as a standalone offering.
By combining In-band and Out-of-band remote support into a single experience, HP Remote Connect enables support teams to resolve both everyday, high‑volume incidents and complex OS‑down scenarios without switching tools or workflows. This unified approach streamlines support operations, reduces time spent on diagnosis and escalation, and improves consistency of remote remediation across distributed environments.

Accessing HP Remote Connect in WXP
You can start a Remote Connect session from either location:
Devices list: select the ellipsis menu (three-dot icon) for a PC and choose Remote Connect.
Device details page: select the Remote Connect button for the PC.
Account Preferences (Settings → Preferences)
Authorized IT Admins can control how Remote Connect is delivered using account-level preferences. If a preference is disabled, no users in the account can use that capability.
In-band Remote Connect
Enable/Disable: Enable or disable the account’s use of In-band Remote Connect.
Screen capture: Enable or disable screen capture during In-band sessions.
Out-of-band Remote Connect
Enable/Disable: Enable or disable the account’s use of Out-of-band Remote Connect.
Screen capture consent: Enable or disable the requirement for end-user consent for screen capture.
Auto-enroll PCs with Out-of-band KVM capability: When enabled, all PCs with compatible hardware are prepared for Out-of-band KVM as part of Remote Connect. This is managed differently when purchased as a separate license in WXP Starter or WXP Standard. A license is assigned and supports both In-band and Out-of-band Remote Connect depending on the PC’s capabilities.
Manual assignment (Edit assigned PCs): If Auto-enroll is disabled, PCs must be manually assigned before they can be used for Out-of-band connections. Update the assignment list as needed. This is managed differently when purchased as a separate license in WXP Starter or WXP Standard. A license is assigned and supports both In-band and Out-of-band Remote Connect depending on the PC’s capabilities.
