Windows: Manual Enrollment of Devices Using Company PIN

Prev Next

Introduction

Manually enrolling using a company PIN provides you (IT administrators and HP partners) with a flexible method for enrolling individual Windows devices in to HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP). This method is useful when automatic enrollment is not possible or preferred. By running the WXP Insights agent for Windows using Single Installer and entering a valid Company PIN, devices can be securely enrolled.

This article provides guidance to deploy the WXP Insights agent for Windows by using a company PIN and the single installer:

  1. Obtaining Company PIN

  2. Installing Windows Agent

  3. Enrolling Devices Using Company PIN

Procedure

Follow the below steps to successfully enroll Windows devices using Company PIN

Step 1: Obtaining Company PIN

To obtain the company PIN:

  1. Log in to WXP. The Home page is displayed.

  2. From the left menu of WXP, select Settings > Preferences. The Preferences tab is displayed.

  3. In the Preferences tab, scroll down to the Company PIN section and copy the pin.

For Partners: From partner login, click Customers > Companies > Company Details > Preferences. Partners can see the company details only after the customer has accepted the partner invitation.

Note: Only computers running Windows 10 (Version 1809) or higher can be enrolled with the WXP Insights agent.

Step 2: Downloading WXP Insights Agent using Single Installer (.exe)

To download:

  1. Download the WXP Insights agent from the Download WXP Insights Software page.

  2. Select WXP Insights Windows Application. A list of agent versions is displayed.

  3. Click Download. Two types of installers are displayed.

  4. Click the option x86 Single Installer (.exe) or Arm64 Single Installer (.exe).

  5. Ensure the contents of the WXPInsights.exe (setup.exe) file are saved to an accessible location.

Note:

If the target platform is x64 or x86, select x86 Single Installer (.exe)

If the target platform is Arm64, select Arm64 Single Installer (.exe)

For WXP Insights agent versions 5.26.114, the executable files for Intel and Arm devices are renamed to WXPInsights.exe and WXPInsights-arm.exe , respectively.

Step 3: Enrolling Devices Using Company PIN

To manually enroll windows devices using the Company PIN:

  1. From the download folder, run the setup.exe (x64 or x86 Platform) with an IT admin role to start the installation.

Note: If target platform is Arm64, then run setuparm.exe. For WXP Insights agent versions 5.26.114, the executable file for Arm is renamed to WXPInsights-arm.exe.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Select the checkbox next to the message I accept the Terms and Conditions of the End User License Agreement.

  4. Click Install and follow through the instructions. A new window opens to initiate the enrollment process.

  5. Click No to the message Will you allow us to check the device’s serial number to see if it’s registered for any HP Services?

  6. Click Enroll with PIN. The Check Device Registration window is displayed with the same message - Will you allow us to check the device’s serial number to see if it’s registered for any HP Services?

  7. Click Yes in the Check Device Registration field to be able to proceed.

  8. In the Device Owner dropdown field, select either:

    • Company: If the computer is owned by a company. This selection enables all data collection by WXP Insight agent.

    • Personal:  If the computer is owned by a person. This selection will limit the data collection that WXP Insights can collect, specifically with personal information, such as last signed-in user, software inventory, and location.

  9. Click Next.

  10. When prompted, enter the company PIN, and click Enroll.

  11. When the enrollment confirmation window appears, click Agree. A message is displayed with a success or failure message.
