Introduction
The Logs feature in HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) provides administrators with visibility into user and system activities across the tenant. Logs are useful for efficient monitoring, auditing, and troubleshooting as it provides granular event records, such as user login attempts and system-level changes. Logs are essential for maintaining transparency, ensuring compliance, and supporting security and operational integrity.
This article provides step-by-step guidance for the following:
Accessing Logs
The Logs feature is designed to help you filter, preview, and export relevant data.
To view logs:
- Log in to WXP. The Home page is displayed.
- From the left menu of WXP, click Settings > Logs. The Logs tab is displayed.
Finding Logs
Narrow down to specific logs using the Search and Filters functionality.
Searching for Logs
The Search and Create Filter options allow you to find specific log entries. Using the Search box on the columns, such as Type, Subtype, User Info, and Identifiers you can search for specific logs.
Filtering Logs
- Click the filter icon to view the Create Filter panel from the right side of the page.
- Provide a name for your custom filter.
- Select the Filter Type:
- Public: Visible and usable by other admins.
- Private: Only visible to the user who created it.
- Specific one or more criteria to filter:
- Field: Select the log field to filter based on Date and Time, Type, Subtype, Level, Description.
- Operator: Define the operation, such as Equal, Contains, Starts With, etc.
- Value: Enter or search for the exact value to apply with the chosen operator.
- Use the plus icon to Add Criteria to add additional criteria.
Exporting Logs
- From the Logs page, select one or more logs to Preview detailed information.
- Use the Export option to download filtered logs as a CSV for offline analysis or compliance reporting.
- Click Export. An Export Logs dialog box is displayed with two options:
- Current selection of logs: This is based on the current filters.
- Export the entire list: You can export up to 5000 entries. For a full export, contact your account admin.
- Click Export. A popup message is displayed indicating the export is in progress and it can be accessed from the Notification center (bell icon).
Troubleshooting
In case the text in the log is indecipherable, follow the steps below.
- Open a blank workbook in Excel.
- Go to the Data tab.
- Click Get Data >** From File** > From Text/CSV.
- Select your downloaded log file and click Import.
- In the preview dialog, set File Origin to 65001: Unicode (UTF‑8).
- Click Load.
