Memory Utilization Report

Introduction

The Memory Utilization report in the Analytics module of HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) provides an overview of memory usage across your device fleet. It helps you to identify devices with insufficient or excessive memory, understand memory-related trends, and determine the applications that consume the most memory.

You can use this report to:

  • Identify devices that may experience performance issues because of high memory usage.

  • Find devices with more memory than their typical workload requires.

  • Understand how memory issues change over time.

  • Identify applications that consume significant memory.

Accessing the Report

  • Log in to WXP. The Home page is displayed.

  • From the left menu of WXP, click Analytics > Modern Reports > Memory Utilization.

Data in the report is presented across multiple widgets:

Fleet Memory Utilization Distribution

This Fleet Memory Utilization Distribution widget uses a pie chart to show the distribution of devices across the following memory-utilization categories:

  • Underutilized: Devices that use substantially less memory than the available capacity.

  • Normal: Devices with memory capacity that is appropriate for their current usage.

  • Overutilized: Devices that frequently use a high percentage of their available memory and may experience reduced performance.

  • Critical overutilization: Devices that have consistently high memory usage and may require immediate investigation.

The center of the chart shows the total number of devices included in the analysis. Select a category to focus on devices with that memory-utilization status.

Use this widget to quickly understand the overall memory health of your fleet and determine how many devices may require attention.

Use the three dots on the top-right of the widget, you can export or copy as PNG.

Memory Issues Trend

The Memory Issues Trend widget shows changes in memory-utilization categories during the selected period.

Each line represents one of the following categories:

  • Underutilized

  • Normal

  • Overutilized

  • Critical overutilization

Use this widget to:

  • Determine whether memory-related issues are increasing or decreasing.

  • Identify sudden changes in the number of affected devices.

  • Evaluate whether memory upgrades, software remediation, or other actions have improved memory utilization.

Use the time-period selector to change the reporting period.

Use the three dots on the top-right of the widget, you can export or copy as PNG.

The Memory Issues Trend is not affected by the applied filters.

Average Memory Consumption by App

The Average Memory Consumption by App widget lists applications based on their average memory consumption.

For each application, the widget can show:

  • Application name

  • Average memory consumption

  • Application classification, such as business or nonbusiness

  • Number of affected devices

Use this widget to identify applications that consume significant memory across the fleet. You can then review whether the application is required, update its configuration, deploy a software remediation, or take another appropriate action.

Select an application to view or focus on the related device information.

Use the three dots on the top-right of the widget, you can export or copy as PNG.

Fleet Memory Distribution by Tier

The Fleet Memory Distribution by Tier widget compares memory utilization across devices with different installed memory capacities, such as:

  • Up to 8 GB

  • 16 GB

  • 24 GB

  • 32 GB

  • More than 64 GB

Each bar shows the distribution of devices across the memory-utilization categories. The widget also indicates the recommended memory configuration for the fleet.

Use this widget to:

  • Compare memory usage across device configurations.

  • Determine whether devices with lower memory capacity are more likely to be overutilized.

  • Identify devices that may benefit from a memory upgrade.

  • Identify devices with more memory than their workload requires.

  • Support future device purchasing and configuration decisions.

Reviewing Device Details Table

The device table provides detailed information about the devices included in the report. Depending on the available data, the table can include:

  • Serial Number: Identifies the device. Clicking the serial number takes you to the device details page.

  • Device Model: Shows the device model.

  • Suggested Actions: Displays recommended actions, such as software remediation, policy deployment, Smart Refresh, or a memory upgrade.

  • Memory Size: Shows the installed memory capacity.

  • Memory Utilization: Shows the device's current memory-utilization category.

Select a serial number to view more information about the device.

Use the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the table to add or remove columns.

Filtering the report

Use the filters above the device table to narrow the displayed results. You can filter the report by:

  • Serial number

  • Device model

  • Suggested action

  • Memory size

  • Memory-utilization category

For example, select Critical overutilization in the Memory Utilization filter to display devices that may require immediate attention.

Exporting the report

Use the Export option in the top-right corner of the page to export the report in XLSX format.

Duplicating the report

Select the three-dot menu next to the Export icon and click Duplicate. A success is displayed indicated that the report was duplicated.

The duplicated report name includes the prefix Copy. Provide an intuitive name for the report, modify the filter criteria to customize the report. The new report can be viewed in the Modern Reports list.

Scheduling a Report Delivery

  1. On the report page, select the three-dot menu next to the Export icon and click Schedule.  The Schedule Report Delivery panel is displayed.

  2. Enter the required fields:

    1. Schedule name (mandatory): Enter an intuitive name to identify the schedule.

    2. Report(s): By default, Memory Utilization is selected.

    3. Start date (mandatory): Choose the date when report delivery should begin.

    4. Start time: Optionally, set the time when the report should be generated and emailed.

  3. Enable the Repeat Every toggle to configure recurring delivery. Enter a number in the Recurrence field, and then select Day, Week, Month, or Quarter. For example, you can schedule the report for delivery once a month or twice a week.

    1. Depending on your selection, additional fields are displayed. For example, when Week is selected, the available days of the week are displayed for selection.

  4. (Optional) Enable the End date toggle, and then select the date when the schedule should stop.

  5. Click Schedule to save and activate the report schedule.

Scheduled reports can be viewed in the Scheduled tab of the Analytics page.

Adding a Report to the Favorites List

  1. On the report page, select the three-dot menu next to the Export icon, and then select Add to favorite. A success message is displayed that the report is added to the Favorites list.

  2. On the Analytics page, reports added to the Favorites list are identified by a star icon.

Removing a Report From the Favorites List

On the report page, select the three-dot menu next to the Export icon, and then select Remove from Favorites.

The option Remove from Favorites is displayed only for reports that are added to the Favorites list. For other reports, the Favorite option is displayed.

The report will be removed from the Favorites tab of the Analytics page.
