Enabling HP Cloud Connection on HP Printers

Introduction

To allow your printer to connect to HP’s cloud solutions, you first need to connect your printer to the HP cloud. Follow these steps to enable HP Cloud Connection on your printer, either via the control panel or the embedded web server, so it can securely connect to HP cloud services for remote management and monitoring.

Enable HP Cloud Connection

You can enable HP Cloud Connection in two ways:

Prerequisites

Before beginning, ensure you have:

  • Connected your printer to the internet, either over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  • Acquired the administrator password for the printer. The default administrator password is the printer PIN, which is typically located on the back of the printer's supplies door.

  • Acquired your printer’s IP address, if you intend to use EWS.

Enabling HP Cloud Connection on the Printer Control Panel

To enable HP cloud connection on the control panel:

  1. On your printer’s home screen, select the Menu icon ().

  2. On the dropdown screen menu bar, select the Settings icon (). The Settings screen appears, showing a list of settings categories.

  3. Select HP Cloud Connection. The HP Cloud Connection screen appears, displaying the feature's status. If you have not already enabled it, the Status appears as Disabled.

  4. On the HP Cloud Connection screen, select Enable. The Printer User sign-in screen appears.

  5. Sign in to the printer as follows:

    a. From the Sign-In Method dropdown, select Device Administrator. The screen updates to reflect the new sign-in method.

    b. Tap the Password field to display the keyboard.

    c. Enter the password and select OK to close the keyboard.

Note

The default administrator password is the printer PIN, which can typically be found on the back of the supplies door of the printer.

d. Select Sign In.

The printer takes some time as it first checks the internet connection, then attempts to enable the HP cloud connection. If successful, the HP Cloud Connection screen appears with a message stating the HP Cloud Connection was successfully enabled.

  1. Select OK to return to the Settings screen.

  2. Select the Home icon () to return to the Home screen.

Enabling HP Cloud Connection through the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Before you can connect to your printer’s embedded web server, you’ll need the IP address for the printer.

To enable HP cloud connection through the EWS:

  1. In your browser, enter your printer’s IP address. The Home page of the printer’s embedded web server appears.

  2. In the left menu, select HP Cloud Connection > HP Cloud Connection. The EWS Sign In dialog appears.

  3. In the Password field, enter the administrator password for the Printer, then select Sign In.

Note

The default administrator password is the printer’s PIN, which can typically be found on the back of the supplies door of the printer.

The HP Cloud Connection page appears, displaying the feature's status. If you have not already enabled HP Cloud Connection, the status appears as Disabled.

3. Select Enable. The Enabling HP Cloud Connection dialog appears, showing the progress of each task it must complete to successfully enable the feature.

4. Once EWS has successfully enabled the HP cloud connection, select OK to close the dialog. The HP Cloud Connection screen appears, showing the cloud connection status in Setting for the printer as Enabled.
