Introduction

This article explains how to enable Web Services on HP printers. To allow your printer to connect to HP’s cloud solutions, first connect it to the cloud by enabling web services on the printer.

Target Audience

Enable Web Services

You can enable web services in two ways:

Prerequisites

Before beginning, ensure you have:

  • Connected your printer to the internet, either over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  • The administrator access credentials for the printer.

  • Your printer’s IP address, if you intend to use EWS.

Enabling Web Services on the Printer Control Panel

To enable HP web services on the control panel:

  1. On your printer’s control panel, select the top menu bar.

  2. On the dropdown screen menu bar, select the Settings icon ( ). The Setup screen appears, showing a list of settings categories.

  3. Select Web Services Setup. The Web Services Settings screen appears.

  4. On the Web Services Settings screen, select Yes. The device takes some time as it attempts to turn on web services and generate an email address for the device.

If the web service setup was successful, the Web Services summary screen appears, showing the Status as Connected.  

  1. Select OK to return to the printer Home screen.

Enabling Web Services through the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Before you can connect to your printer’s embedded web server, you’ll need the IP address for the printer.

To enable web services through the EWS:

  1. In your browser, enter your printer’s IP address. The Home page of the printer’s embedded web server appears.

  2. In the top menu, select Web Services. The EWS login dialog appears.

  3. In the EWS Login dialog, enter your administrator PIN for the printer, then select Submit.  

If web services are not already enabled, the Web Services Settings Setup page appears, informing you that web services are not enabled.

  1. Select Continue. The Terms of Use confirmation page appears.

  2. Check the ‘I have read and accepted the HP Smart Terms of Use’, then select Next.  

EWS attempts to enable web services for the printer. If successful, a setup confirmation page appears.

  1. Select OK to complete the setup process. The EWS login dialog appears again.

  2. Enter your administrator PIN and select Submit. The Web Services Settings Summary screen appears, showing the web services status for the printer as Enabled.
