HP Remote Connect Overview
Last updated: March 31, 2026
Overview
Provide fast, secure remote support to minimize disruption for both employees and IT teams. HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) provides access to diagnose, remediate, and recover multi-vendor devices—whether the OS is running or not—available with WXP Pro and Elite plans, or standalone.
By combining in‑band and out‑of‑band remote support into a single experience, HP Remote Connect enables support teams to resolve both every day, high‑volume incidents and complex OS‑down scenarios without switching tools or workflows. This unified approach streamlines support operations, reduces time spent on diagnosis and escalation, and improves consistency of remote remediation across distributed environments.

Account preferences (Settings / Preferences)
IT Admins (or other roles with managed permissions) can control how Remote Connect is delivered using account-level preferences. If a preference is disabled, no users in the account can use that capability.
- In-band Remote Connect
- Enable/Disable — Enables or disables the account’s use of In-band Remote Connect.
- Out-of-band Remote Connect
- Enable/Disable — Enables or disables the account’s use of Out-of-band Remote Connect.
- Screen capture Enable/Disable — Enables or disables screen capture during In-band sessions.
- Screen capture consent Enable/Disable — Requires or removes end-user consent for screen capture.
- Auto-enroll devices with Out-of-band KVM capability — When enabled, all devices with compatible hardware are prepared for Out-of-band KVM as part of Remote Connect. This is managed differently when purchased as a separate license in Starter or Standard. A license is assigned and supports both In-band and Out-of-band Remote Connect depending on the device’s capabilities.
- Manual assignment (Edit assigned devices) — If Auto-enroll is disabled, devices must be manually assigned before they can be used for Out-of-band connections; update the assignment list as needed. This is managed differently when purchased as a separate license in Starter or Standard. A license is assigned and supports both In-band and Out-of-band Remote Connect depending on the device’s capabilities.
