Custom File and Local Report Exporter on Admin Portal

Introduction

The Local Report Exporter generates a CSV file from HP WXP Collaboration “Dataset.” The file can be accessed from a specific on-premises location and imported into BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

This article explains how to set up the Custom File (CSV) Collector for the Local Report Exporter in Tech Insights Analytics.

Prerequisites

  • You must have a WXP Collaboration Administrator account.

  • You must have access to the on-premises WXP Collaboration Data Collector to verify file creation.

Setting Up the Custom File (CSV) Collector

  1. Sign in to the Admin Portal of WXP Collaboration application.

  2. From the left menu click Infrastructure and select New Infrastructure.

  3. Choose Custom File Interface.

  4. Enter a name for the infrastructure and click Save.

  5. Additional options appears on the page to change the default folder location on the WXP Collaboration Data Collector server, if required.

  6. Toggle the Enabled switch to turn on the Custom File exporter.

Creating a Report Using the Local Report Exporter

  1. Open the Dataset that you want to export.

  2. Select the Share or Forward icon.

  3. Choose Local Report Exporter.

  4. Select the required frequency and reporting period.

  5. Enter a file name and select Save.

  6. The scheduled report appears in the Reports section of Tech Insights Analytics.

Verifying File Creation

To verify that the file was created on the WXP Collaboration Data Collector, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the virtual machine where the WXP Collaboration Data Collector is installed.

  2. Go to the WXP Collaboration Data Collector installation directory. The default path is C:/Vyopta/.

  3. Open the /VyoptaDownloads folder.

  4. Verify that the exported CSV file is present.

Troubleshooting

If you are unsure of the WXP Collaboration Data Collector installation location, you can find the install directory in the Admin Portal. The file location depends on the directory selected during the initial collector installation and the value configured for the Downloads Folder in the Admin Portal.
