MTR Injection from MS Teams CQD using PowerBI

Prev Next

Introduction

When Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) device data is available in HP WXP Collaboration, administrators can view device information, call records, quality of service (QoS) details, and meeting room usage.

This article explains how to leverage PowerBI to create a specific CQD Dataset Workspace in the environment that can be integrated with WXP Collaboration.

Note: Please perform the following integration if some of your Microsoft Teams Rooms are NOT part of your Intune environment as having additional PowerBI and CQD Integration will ensure all Microsoft Teams Rooms in your environment are catalogued.

Scope

If the PowerBI and CQD integration is done, WXP Collaboration utilizes PowerBI REST APIs provided by Microsoft to gather Teams Room data.

PowerBI Setup and CQD Integration

This section provides guidance to create and integrate the specified customer CQD dataset in the Microsoft environment by using Power BI. It also describes how to integrate the dataset with the WXP Collaboration Cloud collector for Teams.

  1. PowerBI CQD Dataset Workspace Creation and Integration: This involves creation of a PowerBI workspace for integration with the specfic CQD dataset.

  2. PowerBI CQD Integration with WXP Collaboration: This involves integration of the PowerBI Workspace and dataset into Teams Cloud collector of WXP Collaboration.

Note: You must have Global Administrator role credentials for the PowerBI dataset workspace creation and integration and for authorization

Part 1 : PowerBI CQD Dataset Workspace Creation and Integration

  1. In app.powerbi.com, create a shared workspace. Suggested name: CQD-API.

    • From the URL, note the workspace (group) ID.

    • Ensure the workspace name includes “CQD.”

Browser screenshot showing app.powerbi.com/groups/... address bar with the workspace (group) ID highlighted; page shows the Power BI workspace titled CQD-API.

  2. Download MicrosoftCallQuality.pqx to your computer.

  3. Install the Power BI Desktop application.

    • Go to [Documents]\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors on the computer.

    • Create the folder if it does not exist.

    • Copy the downloaded MicrosoftCallQuality.pqx file into this folder.

  4. Open Power BI Desktop and sign in to your Power BI account.

    1. You must be a Global Administrator to complete the next steps.

    2. Use the user profile icon to sign in, sign out, or change the account.

  5. Download cqd-basic.pbix to your computer. Double-click the file to open it in Power BI Desktop. Click OK on the warning message.

  2. On the publish prompt, select the CQD-API workspace and continue to Publish.

    • Select Save if prompted.

    • Select Replace if a report or dataset already exists. You will get a success notification:

Power BI publishing success dialog with dark background showing 'Publishing to Power BI', a green check and 'Success!', a link to open the report, and a 'Got it' button

  3. After a successful publish, open the CQD-API workspace in app.powerbi.com.

    • The cqd-basic semantic model displays.

    • Hover over the item name, select the ellipsis (…), and select Settings.
