Populating the Sentiment Score

Prev Next

Overview

The Sentiment Score is now displayed as soon as at least one completed survey response is available. A Confidence Indicator appears alongside the score to show how representative the result is based on the number of responses received.

This replaces the previous experience where the Sentiment Score remained hidden until the statistically significant response threshold was reached.

What changed

Previously, the Sentiment Score was hidden until the required statistically significant sample size was reached.

Now:

  • The Sentiment Score appears after the first completed response.

  • The Confidence Indicator communicates how representative the score is.

  • The statistically significant sample-size calculation remains unchanged.

  • Empty states related to waiting for a required number of responses have been removed.

How confidence is calculated

The system:

  1. Determines the eligible device population (Windows devices w/ agent installed).

  2. Calculates the required sample size using the existing methodology.

  3. Calculates the Sentiment Score when one or more responses exist.

  4. Compares the number of responses received with the required sample size.

  5. Displays the Sentiment Score and corresponding Confidence Indicator.

The confidence calculation uses the following formula:

Confidence Ratio = Responses Received ÷ Required Sample Size

The existing sample-size methodology remains unchanged. The confidence model only changes how the results are displayed.
