Introduction
The Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) integration with the WXP Collaboration application is important because it enables the collection of call quality and performance data directly from Cisco gateways. By configuring SNMP, SSH, and media statistics, and then adding CUBE to the WXP Collaboration Admin Portal, administrators can monitor call detail, track dial-peer status, and measure metrics such as jitter, packet loss, and latency. This integration helps ensure visibility into voice performance, improves troubleshooting, and supports proactive management of collaboration services.
This article describes the steps and configuration commands needed to set up Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) for data collection and to add CUBE to the WXP Collaboration.
CUBE Configuration
To prepare CUBE for integration with WXP Collaboration, you must configure SSH access, SNMP settings, dial-peer monitoring, and media statistics.
Step 1: Installing SSH Client
Before starting, install an SSH client on the server that will host the WXP Collaboration Collector.
Step 2: Opening Ports
Open all required ports between the server hosting the collector and the CUBE(s). This may require opening ports on a firewall or allowing traffic through access control lists in the network.
The WXP Collaboration Collector must be able to access ISR/CUBE on:
TCP port 22 (SSH)
UDP port 161 (SNMP agent)
The ISR/CUBE must be able to send SNMP traps to the WXP Collaboration Collector on:
UDP port 162
Step 3: Configure ISR/CUBE for SNMP access
Example configuration for SNMP v2:
snmp-server community vyoptacpm RO
snmp-server enable traps dial
snmp-server host <data collector host IP address> version 2c vyoptacpm
Example configuration for SNMP v3:
SNMP version 3 was introduced in version 4.8.7 of our Data Collector, should you need SNMPv3 support, please upgrade the collector to the latest version
Step 4: Enable SSH
Enable SSH on port 22. Create a limited IOS service account for WXP Collaboration Tech Insights. A different privilege level can be used at your discretion. The levels below are the minimum required.
privilege configure all level 5 logging
privilege exec all level 5 show dial-peer voice summary
privilege exec all level 5 show dial-peer voice
privilege exec level 5 show dial-peer
privilege exec level 5 show
Create the required service account with SSH access to ISR/CUBE: username vyopta_svc privilege 5 secret <password>
Step 5 – Enable status tracking on individual dial-peers per router
For each dial-peer, configure Out-of-dialog (OOD) OPTIONS Ping for specified SIP.
dial-peer voice tag voip
voice-class sip options-keepalive {up-interval seconds | down-interval seconds | retry retries}Example:
enable
configure terminal
dial-peer voice 200 voip
voice-class sip options-keepalive up-interval 100 down-interval 50 retry 6
The above values are the tested and recommended values.
Step 6: Enable media statistics
Enable global tracking of jitter, packet loss, and latency.
voice service voip
media statisticsExample:
enable
configure terminal
voice service voip
media statistics
exit

Click Save. If using SNMPv3, continue with the instructions below.
If using SNMPv3, click SNMP Settings and fill in the fields with the configuration used for CUBE.
