Introduction
The Policies > Assignment feature in the Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) allows IT administrators to target specific device groups with policies for configuration management and security enforcement. The following types of groups are supported:
- Static Groups: Fixed membership groups where devices are manually added or removed.
- Dynamic Groups: Groups with membership automatically updated based on device attributes.
This article provides a step-by-step guide to create a policy assignment.

Tips for Effective Policy Assignments
- Target Precisely: Assign policies only to required groups to minimize unnecessary processing.
- Test First: Apply policies to small test groups before a full rollout.
- Document Assignments: Maintain a record of policy-to-group mappings.
- Regular Review: Periodically audit policy assignments for accuracy and relevance.
- Consider Conflicts: Be mindful of potential conflicts when multiple policies target the same groups.
Troubleshooting
- If the Assign button appears greyed out, ensure at least one group is selected.
- If a group doesn't appear, confirm the group name or whether the group exists in the system.
- If assignment fails, verify that you have the necessary permissions.
